I came to this country at the age of five, thanks to the sacrifices my mother made for me and my family to have the opportunity to create our own dreams. My mother always wanted to be a teacher, and I am grateful that her memory and passion live on through My Little University.

My professional background is in public relations, where I worked for a national corporation and grew from sales into a regional director position. While I was proud of my career, I always dreamed of opening my own business. As a working parent, I struggled to find a preschool where I felt truly confident leaving my daughters. That experience inspired me to open a school that provided the kind of care, trust, and vision I wanted for my own children.

Founding My Little University became both my greatest personal and professional growth. It has taught me patience, empathy, and the importance of meaningful connections with others. I strive to connect with each enrolled family personally and help them feel secure in the care we provide. What began as a personal goal has grown into a lasting legacy—one that I now share with my sister and my daughters, and that continues to honor the sacrifices my mother made for us.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Psychology, as well as a Master’s in Special Education. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working in a variety of school settings, including a private school in Madrid, Spain. Today, I feel so fortunate to work alongside my mother and aunt as part of the Administration team at My Little University—a place that has been an important part of my life since childhood. I officially joined the team full-time in 2023, but in many ways, it has always felt like home.

My passion has always been teaching and working with young children. Each child I’ve worked with has left an impression on me and taught me something new. What I love most about my role now is that it allows me not only to stay connected to children but also to support and develop our teachers into strong, confident educators. Just as importantly, I cherish the opportunity to build relationships with families and help them feel secure in the care we provide.

For me, My Little University is more than a school—it’s part of my family, my story, and my future. I’m excited to continue contributing to its growth and to carry this legacy forward as we open new locations in the years to come.

Caring for children and creating a space where they feel safe, nurtured, and loved has always been close to my heart. My path began in the world of Architecture and Design, but in 2016, life took a beautiful turn when I joined my sister Sandra in helping to build her early childhood education business.

Being part of this journey has brought me so much joy—not only in supporting my sister’s dream, but also in honoring our mother’s sacrifices and creating a legacy for the next generation of my family.

There is nothing more rewarding to me than watching children grow—from their first days in the nursery to their final steps into our pre-k classrooms and beyond. To see their smiles, watch their confidence blossom, and know I may have played even a small part in their well-being and development is truly one of life’s greatest blessings.

I am originally from Sri Lanka, where I spent over 10 years as a school administrator, dedicating myself to educational growth and community service. One of my most meaningful contributions was helping to establish Bridge2Peace, a school built for families below the poverty line in a tsunami-affected area, where I continue to serve on the administration team. Though I graduated from law school in 1989, my true passion led me to education, where I could support children’s learning and still be present for my own family.

With more than 25 years of experience in education, I have been part of MLU since 2021, where I have found the warmth and belonging of a family-owned school. To me, that sense of family is what makes a school feel like a child’s second home. Over the years, I have grown as a leader, mentor, and advocate for students, drawing on my strengths in building relationships, fostering inclusive communities, and creating supportive environments where children can thrive.

I have been a part of My Little University since 2018 and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Integrated Math and Science. Over the years, I have gained extensive knowledge in the Creative Curriculum as well as ECERS and ITERS, which allows me to provide teachers with the strategies, tools, and support needed to create engaging and effective classroom environments for all students. Working at MLU has given me the opportunity to grow alongside an incredible team while making a meaningful impact on the lives of the children and families we serve. I truly value this field because it allows me to foster curiosity, encourage learning, and help children develop the skills they need to thrive.

I grew up in the Rutherford area and currently reside in Hudson County. Two of my passions are community involvement and teaching. I am a chair member for a non-profit organization that helps ill children and families. I have been teaching since 2008 and hold an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Over the years, I have also completed various early education training courses to strengthen my skills and knowledge. I joined My Little University in 2018, where I serve as both a Pre-K teacher and an administration team member, as well as the Community Outreach Coordinator. Working at My Little University, I am passionate about creating a nurturing, structured, and engaging environment that supports every child’s growth and success.
